Companies want educated and well-trained workers. Fighting against unfunded mandates such as No Child Left Behind and supporting the local public schools can ensure that our children have the best education possible. Investing in our future begins by committing ourselves to the improvement of our public schools and ensuring that college is affordable for all Americans who have the desire and ability to attend.

Fred supports:

• Expanding and fully funding the opportunities of early childhood programs such as Head Start.
• Supporting Senator Barack Obama’s American Opportunity Tax Credit initiative (a $4,000 fully refundable tax credit that will cover up to two-thirds of the cost of tuition at a public college or university) that will be available when the family needs the money – at the time of enrollment.
• Reforming No Child Left Behind so that it is adequately funded and no longer leaves thousands of children behind by its poorly implemented and constructed assessment and accountability systems.
